K-9 Security's Officer Trainer
Steve
Summerville is the current Director of Security for CHUM Television,
having recently joined the team in August of 2001 upon the
conclusion of a twenty-three year tenure with the Toronto Police
Service.
Steve
concluded his policing career at the Ontario Police College in
Aylmer Ontario by serving a secondment in the Defensive Tactics
Section in the capacity of “provincial trainer”.
He was responsible for providing provincially mandated
training to all Ontario police personnel.
Prior
to that, Steve’s policing career saw him serve in various
functions including training co-ordinator at the Toronto Police
College “Officer Safety Section”, training and operations
supervisor for the “Crowd Management Section” of the Public
Safety Unit, uniform patrol, youth bureau, criminal investigation,
sexual assault investigation and fraud investigation.
Steve
has completed courses of study at Humber College, the Canadian
Police College, the Canadian Emergency Preparedness College,
Emergency Measures Ontario, the Toronto Police College and the
Ontario Police College. Steve
holds instructor certification in a number of law enforcement
programs and has obtained black belt ranking in a number of martial
art disciplines.
Steve has also gained recognition in the court system as an expert
in the areas of “use of force”, “sharp edge weapon defense”, and “crowd control dynamics”.
Steve
lectures and facilitates training programs throughout Canada and the
United States to law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities,
martial art groups, private security and various governmental
agencies. |
